چکیده

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD) is underdiagnosed cardiomyopathy which commonly presents in young adults with ventricular tachycardia or sudden death. We report a case of ARVD presenting with features of acute coronary syndrome. The suspicion of ARVD came only when echocardiogram revealed abnormal shape and wall motion of right ventricle, which was later confirmed by right ventricular angiogram. The diagnosis of ARVD was discussed and the literature reviewed.

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy is an infrequently diagnosed, genetically determined disease that leads to significant clinical consequences, including progressive heart failure and ventricular arrhythmias accounting for sudden cardiac death. We report the case of a 52-year-old patient who presented with ventricular tachycardia and features of an acute coronary syndrome. However...

A unique association of arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia and acute myocarditis, as assessed by cardiac MRI: a case report

BACKGROUND Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD), is a genetic disorder of the heart, which mainly involves the right ventricle. It is characterized by hypokinetic areas at the free wall of the right ventricle (RV) or both ventricles, where myocardium is replaced by fibrous or fatty tissue. ARVD is an important cause of ventricular arrhythmias in children and young adults. Although ...

Iatrogenic pleuropericardial communication: A rare complication of percutaneous epicardial mapping

Ablation of ventricular tachycardia (VT) is a wellestablished treatment for patients with recurrent implantable cardioverter-defibrillator shocks. Epicardial access is increasingly performed when epicardial arrhythmogenic substrate is suspected and may be considered as a first-line approach in the subset of myocardial diseases with preferential epicardial substrate, namely, idiopathic dilated c...
